A distinctive native shrub with pincushion pinkish white blossoms that appear in mid to late summer. Buttonbush fragrant, unique looking flowers are attractive to a wide array of pollinators including butterflies. This plant flowers when many other plants aren’t blooming, which helps pollinators get through lean times until late summer and fall-blooming plants like Aster and Goldenrods start blooming.
Buttonbush is easily grown in moist or wet soils, including areas that experience flooding, making it a good candidate for rain garden. It is adaptable to a wide range of soils, but is not suitable for dry sites. Moderate growth rate, growing up to 15' tall in partial to full sun.
